Wanda Nara has confirmed the end of her 10-year relationship with Mauro Icardi.
The couple, married since May 2014, has experienced numerous public separations and reconciliations over the years.
Nara, who has also acted as Icardi’s agent, has reportedly filed for divorce after much deliberation.
According to Ciudad Magazine, she made this decision amid persistent rumours of discord between them. Recently, Nara unfollowed Icardi on social media, signalling their separation, although Icardi still follows her.
Breaking her silence, Wanda Nara confirmed the split on America TV. She said:
“For personal and health reasons, I tried once more, but it didn’t work. Let everyone talk. I’ve saved my silence for the last.”
“I know how hard endings are and what they cost. There are things on TV and the internet that aren’t true, but I accept it as part of the bad and who I am.”
“I decided to end it, but Mauro and I will still be a family. It wasn’t a mistake to try more when there was love. I regret nothing; these years were the best of my life, but now I must be alone.”
“There is no villain or third party; our relationship was always stronger than it seemed from the outside. My priority has always been my children, and now more than ever. Thank you for your respect.”
The couple has two children together, Francesca, 9, and Isabella, 7. Their relationship has always been highly publicised, especially due to its dramatic beginnings.
Nara was previously married to Icardi’s former Sampdoria teammate Maxi López. Their marriage ended when Nara’s relationship with Icardi came to light, leading to divorce proceedings in December 2013. Nara and Icardi then married in May 2014, shortly after her divorce was finalized.
The dynamics between Icardi and López have been tense since the affair was revealed. During an April 2014 Serie A match between Sampdoria and Inter, López notably refused to shake Icardi’s hand, prompting the press to dub the encounter the “Wanda Derby.” López repeated this gesture in April 2016 during another Serie A match.
