Tottenham are making significant strides in their pursuit of Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Spurs are ahead of their North London rivals, Arsenal, in the race to sign the talented 26-year-old.

Speaking on the Last Word on Spurs podcast, Jacobs said:

“When one club enquires, every club enquires. As soon as the Euros finish we might see some movement on this one.

“You’re right that Manchester City like this player, but Tottenham are there and I think they’re ahead if you like in terms of how concrete they are that he’s someone they wish to move on than Arsenal who have been linked with Eberechi Eze as well.”

Spurs are reportedly more advanced in their pursuit with previous reports suggesting they are ready to trigger Eze’s £60 million release clause, with an additional £8 million in potential add-ons, aligning with his current market value.

Eze extended his contract with Crystal Palace last November, securing his stay at Selhurst Park until 2027.

Despite some injury setbacks, Eze had an impressive season, scoring 11 goals and providing six assists in 31 appearances, setting a new personal record at the club.

His performances were crucial for the Eagles, with key goals against teams like Brentford, Sheffield United, Liverpool, and Aston Villa.

Eze’s stellar season earned him a spot in England’s 26-man squad for Euro 2024.

His contributions during the tournament have been significant, including a vital pre-assist in the round of 16 match against Slovakia and participating in the quarterfinal win over Switzerland.

His versatility and creativity make him a valuable target for Spurs.
