Manchester United’s struggles in the Premier League persist, with the team languishing in 14th place following an inconsistent run of form.

Their recent FA Cup elimination at the hands of Fulham on penalties has only intensified scrutiny on both the squad and manager Rúben Amorim.

Ruben Amorim eyeing Man United squad overhaul

As reported by The Sun, Amorim is preparing to take drastic measures to overhaul the squad in a bid to restore United’s competitiveness. Several high-profile players could face an uncertain future, with the manager reportedly willing to make ruthless decisions to reshape the team.

Casemiro, one of the club’s highest earners, is among those who could be offloaded, as United look to reduce their wage bill. Additionally, Marcus Rashford and Antony, out on loan, could be sold if suitable offers arrive.

Forward duo Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee are also under evaluation, with Amorim considering whether they fit into his long-term plans.

The Portuguese coach has made it clear that while he does not seek to impose authority unnecessarily, he will not hesitate to make tough calls if he believes a player’s presence is detrimental to the team. He insists on honesty with his squad and expects them to understand that some may have to move on at the end of the season.

Amorim’s tenure at Old Trafford

Since taking over at Manchester United in November 2024, Amorim has shown glimpses of promise, securing a 1-1 draw in his debut match against Ipswich Town and earning his first Premier League win in a 4-0 victory over Everton. He also became the first United manager since Sir Alex Ferguson to win his first Manchester Derby, defeating Manchester City 2-1.

However, inconsistency has plagued his tenure, with just five wins in his first 16 Premier League matches, alongside eight defeats. Tensions between Amorim and his players have also begun to surface, with some feeling disconnected from the manager’s methods.

As the summer transfer window approaches, significant squad changes appear likely, with Amorim determined to build a team capable of challenging at the highest level.
