Mohamed Salah has reaffirmed his loyalty to Liverpool by turning down a staggering £500 million offer from the Saudi Pro League, choosing instead to sign a fresh contract extension that keeps him at Anfield until 2027.

Salah declines £500 million offer

The 32-year-old was widely tipped to make a high-profile switch to the Middle East at the end of the season when his previous deal was due to expire.

However, rather than cashing in on a historic payday, Salah chose to prioritise his sporting ambitions and remain in European football at the highest level.

Although his new deal reportedly sees him earn close to £400,000 per week—making him the club’s top earner—the figure is a fraction of what was on the table from Saudi clubs.

BBC Sport revealed that discussions around a potential move began as far back as February, but Salah never wavered in his focus on continuing his career at Liverpool, especially with another league title within reach.

Salah’s decision only enhances his legendary status at Anfield. Since arriving in 2017, he has broken numerous records, including becoming the club’s all-time Premier League top scorer and the third-highest scorer in Liverpool’s history overall. His achievements include three Golden Boots, several Player of the Season and individual awards.

A season for the ages

This season, Salah has been nothing short of exceptional. He currently leads the Premier League in both goals and assists, with a combined 55 goal contributions—32 goals and 23 assists—in 46 games across all competitions. His outstanding form has helped propel Arne Slot’s Liverpool 13 points clear at the top of the table with six matches left to play. (Transfermarkt)

Salah’s decision to stay sends a powerful message. It’s not merely about the money—it’s a testament to his commitment to legacy. In a time defined by lucrative transfers, his loyalty stands out.
