Liverpool are drawing late transfer interest in midfielder Tyler Morton as the January window approaches its final hours.

Middlesbrough targets Morton with £10m bid

According to journalist Paul Joyce, Championship side Middlesbrough has made a late bid for the 22-year-old, which could rise to over £10 million with bonuses and clauses.

Despite limited playing time this season, Morton’s potential has captured attention. He has made just five senior appearances across all competitions, but his value is still estimated at €8 million. (Transfermarkt)

Morton’s impressive development

Morton’s journey with Liverpool began at the age of seven when he joined the academy, turning down an offer from Everton. He quickly made an impression, notably scoring in a commanding 6-1 victory over Everton for the Under-18s. His development accelerated as he moved up to the Under-23 squad, scoring 10 goals across youth competitions in the 2020-21 season and playing a crucial role in Liverpool’s FA Youth Cup final run.

The midfielder made his first-team debut in September 2021 during an EFL Cup tie against Norwich City. He followed this up with appearances in the Premier League and Champions League, earning praise for his composure and intelligence on the ball.

To gain regular first-team experience, Morton was loaned to Blackburn Rovers for the 2022-23 season, where he made 46 appearances. His performances earned him a loan move to Hull City for the recent campaign, where he continued to shine. Notable highlights at Hull included scoring a vital equalizer against Swansea City and being named EFL Young Player of the Month in December 2023.

Although Bayer Leverkusen previously showed interest, a move never materialized. However, with Middlesbrough’s offer now on the table, Liverpool may be inclined to sell, considering their strong depth in midfield.

Letting Morton go for a significant fee could be a strategic move, providing funds for further reinforcements. With the transfer deadline looming, fans will be eager to see whether the talented midfielder makes a switch.
