Martin Braithwaite has activated his €600,000 release clause, terminating his contract at Espanyol and making himself a free agent amid interest from several Premier League clubs, including Everton, Southampton, and Leicester City.

The Spanish side confirmed the player’s decision in an official statement, thanking him for his professionalism and wishing him well in his future endeavors.

Fresh reports from Danish outlet Tipsbladet suggest that Everton, Southampton, and Leicester City are keen to sign Braithwaite on a free transfer.

It is expected that the former Barcelona man would seek reimbursement for the release clause amount in any potential deal.

Braithwaite’s career includes stints in several top European leagues and a previous spell in England with Middlesbrough, where he scored 9 goals in 40 appearances. Internationally, he has earned 69 caps and scored 10 goals for Denmark since his debut in 2013.

As Braithwaite seeks new opportunities, Premier League clubs are likely to monitor his situation closely.
