Tottenham Hotspur has officially announced that Drew Spence has signed a new contract, extending her stay with the club until June 2026.

Since joining from Chelsea in the summer of 2022, the 31-year-old midfielder has brought a wealth of experience to Spurs Women’s first-team, significantly impacting her two seasons with the team.

Spence, who has represented both England and Jamaica at the international level, boasts an illustrious career.

She began at Chelsea in 2008, becoming the club’s longest-serving player before moving to Tottenham. During her time at Chelsea, Spence secured numerous honours, including five FA Women’s Super League titles, four Women’s FA Cups, and two FA Women’s League Cups.

Her influence at Spurs has been profound. In her first season with the Lilywhites, Spence made 22 Women’s Super League appearances, scoring three goals and providing two assists.

Despite an injury in November that sidelined her for four months during her second campaign, she managed 12 appearances, scoring twice and assisting three times, playing a crucial role in the season’s final stretch and helping the team secure a top-six finish. (Soccerdonna)

Reflecting on her new contract, Spence expressed excitement about continuing her journey with Tottenham. She highlighted her commitment to contributing to the club’s growth and success, emphasizing the family environment at Hotspur Way as a key factor in her decision to stay.

Spence also acknowledged her initial concerns about leaving Chelsea but praised the welcoming and supportive atmosphere at Spurs.

As she looks ahead, Spence is determined to help Tottenham reach new heights and continue the positive momentum from the previous season.
