Tottenham Hotspur is actively streamlining their squad by offloading players who are not part of their future plans.
One such player is Troy Parrott, who is set to join AZ Alkmaar after the clubs finalized an agreement for his transfer.
This move is intended to bolster Alkmaar’s squad as they gear up for a title challenge next season, following their fourth-place finish in the previous campaign.
As reported by TEAMtalk, Parrott is set to return to the Netherlands, joining AZ Alkmaar on a permanent basis. The Dutch club will pay €8 million for the 22-year-old striker, who has reportedly already travelled to the Netherlands for his medical examination.
Despite Parrott’s hopes of securing a spot in Ange Postecoglou’s first-team plans at Tottenham, the club decided against offering him that opportunity.
Parrott had an exceptional loan spell at Excelsior Rotterdam last season, scoring 17 goals and providing 5 assists in 32 appearances across all competitions. (Transfermarkt)
Parrott joined Tottenham in 2019, signing his first professional contract and making his senior debut later that year. However, limited first-team opportunities at Spurs led to multiple loan spells, allowing him to showcase his talent outside the Lilywhites.
The move to AZ Alkmaar provides Parrott with a fresh start and the chance to continue his impressive form from the previous season.
As he embarks on this new chapter, Tottenham will be watching closely to see how he progresses and whether he can fulfil his potential away from North London.
This transfer marks a significant step for both Parrott and AZ Alkmaar, as they aim to make a substantial impact in the upcoming season.
